Understanding how "Buy with Prime" and Shopify's Interest in Deliverr are Linked

There were two, very related developments that happened last week:

  • Amazon launched “Buy with Prime”: In summary, a DTC site can place a widget on their checkout that allows the consumer to use their Amazon credentials to check out and then the brand uses Amazon fulfillment capabilities to deliver FAST. Amazon explains it best here.
  • Shopify is (reportedly) considering acquiring Deliverr. Deliverr is platform where retailers and brands can plug into a network of warehouses that enables two-day or next day delivery speed. Deliverr would allow Shopify stores to be more “Prime like” (from Deliverr’s website) 👇
