Walmart July '22 Quarter Results
Walmart reported its July-’22 quarterly results this morning, beating the low expectations from the investment community following its July 25th disclosure that it was having to become more promotional to clear out excess inventory in certain general merchandise categories.
Walmart’s shares are up ~18% since its last earnings call in May and the company sounded upbeat on what it’s seeing from the consumer and its positioning in a tough market.
In the U.S., comps grew 6.5%, with 5.5 percentage points coming from ticket growth (i.e., inflation) and 1 percentage point from transaction growth.
